burn baby burn: the blue and maize edition
i think that michigan is about to beat notre dame...and this means that i am staying in tonight. either way. i had contemplated going to the matchy matchy downtown to go to the movies, but no way no how now.
i went for a bike ride this afternoon and quite remarkably took a spill and hurt my other thumb. what the flip is up with me and my thumbs?
yesterday, the college or architecture and planning put on a big show for our new provost. more on that later. but one of the many things that struck me was that while the whole college met with her was that the points of reference, our peer institutions, were three in the orbit of cambridge: harvard, m.i.t. and cambridge (u.k.) this came up in conversations as we embark on a period of self-assessment.
tonight, my points of reference are college park, maryland and columbus, ohio. will the students here pause from the rounds of beer pong for some couch-carnage?

Good call staying off the streets of A-A, given the victory--I trust you will urge your students to celebrate in a smaller, shorter, cheaper, younger fashion, in future.
Trust the r-i-c-e-ing of l'autre thumb is going well.
To echo previous comment, I agree that we want to see you continue to span the depths and heighths of our "culture," from the purple mountain majesties of TomKat to the shining seas of Matt Lauer's washboard abs... And, of course, the amber fields of Guy Raz. He's sooo dreamy, I have read.
