are amazing.

today, six had to offer their "poetics of place" presentations. i do not know what i was thinking when i assigned this, but they mos def surpassed my expectations and hopes. their images were just stunning and they used such delicious descriptions.

and, what is more, i required each person present to complete an evaluation of each speaker. the comments they wrote to each other were respectful and honorable and decent. i hope that they will prove to be helpful and instructive as they go forward with their academic and professional careers.

i aimed for this to be both an oral presentation and a listening exercise. i am pleased with how it went. can't wait for thursday to see the others.
