i will huff and puff and blow this joint down

still cooking.

thanks for the cheers and confidence and occasional b*tch slap. i looked down about an hour ago and realized that i had been wearing the same pair of rust-colored norwegian procured h+m corduroys for days.

seriously, i have done all manner of head and hand stands. it's like cirque du soleil quinn style -- sadly, without the unitard.

here is the exciting part: i actually like what i have written. i don't often say that, but i really do like. and i can't wait for my readers to burst my bubbles. but it's a) to be expected and b) all good.

shelved one. david wants me to type that publicly. from now on: implicit in everything i type is always the notion that i will long to keep fidgeting and tinkering.

seriously slashing in five.

thanks everyone.

q,

rock on!

i loved reading this, "here is the exciting part: i actually like what i have written." that's the best news possible.

when writing flows, it's a beautiful thing. but when we like what has just flowed, it's a very beautiful thing. this is truly the best news possible.

chapter 1: done.

nice!

good luck on chapter 5. keep in mind how well it's gone over at conferences and creatively integrate the ideas you've gathered from those conferences into the chapter.

after chapter 5 is finito, you deserve a big celebration!

then, after that, you'll be able to settle down with chapter 3. don't you dare, kelly quinn, back down from chapter 3. at the very best, it will write itself - a legendary bit of auto-writing that academics will talk about for decades. at the very worst, it will be the weakest chapter of an otherwise kick ass dissertation. mary will, no doubt, have helpful advice on all this.

enjoy finishing chapter 5.

and, shhhhh, guess what? you're way more than halfway done.

it's true: i wore the same pair of rust-colored norweigan cords daily for at least a month when i was finishing my diss. routinizing my clothes meant one less thing to think about. k, you have everyone's permission to slouch around in all manner of hideous things: uniform, unitard, or what have you.

you are getting so close! it's fabulous. don't forget that breaks and rewards are essential. when you finish this chapter, do treat yourself well. brownie from mm?

Two thoughts:

One: You can take those rust-colored cords from 'dissertation drab' to 'doctoral fab' with the addition of a simple accessory, such as a doctoral hood, or (preferred) the simple refusal to indulge in further tinkering and/or handwringing! Or thoughts thereof.

Second: This is not a Blawg-ocracy! Once Team Legends Ball (aka all the procrastinating people like myself, etc., who comment) has delivered The Advice, your place in the world is to Rock! And! Implement! And refuse to back down from Phinishing!

Because once Team Legends Ball has brung it, it stays broughten. That's one thing that Oprah knows for sure, sister friend.

That is all.

ps--it's not too early to start planning the Free Goodie Bag for the KQ LB, is it? I would like for there to be a plasma tv in my bag. Thank you.

Yet...as I reflect further, it strikes me that one of the enticing benefits of your impending Doctor status is that we will then all be living in...

The Qinn-ocracy.

Wherein you rule! Keep up the great work!

(Can you tell I'm not finishing a scandalously overdue book review? Perhaps if I owned rust-colored cords, I might be more productive...)

The end.

ps--also, I'd like Giada from food network to be co-chef with Take Home Curtis, for the KQLB. Despite her Choppers, she's a hottie.

thank you, jss. i had never thought of the dried-blood cords as somehow enabling my writing process, but i will reconsider. maybe my problem with working this summer is because i left them to mildew in a cardboard box in my providence basement.
