i don't do ugly
i am eating out too much. almost every single day this week, i have been fed at a campus event ... meals out, catered lunches + dinners. it's exhausting being invited to dinners to celebrate and commemorate dr. king. i want to support the students' efforts, but i can barely have a private thought these days. i went to a lecture tonight sponsored by the undergrad chapter of NOMA featuring a michigan alum who has had a very successful practice located in washington, d.c. he offered such a great example for the students in attendance. he gave a good talk with and without slides, but more at dinner, he was full of advice, stories, tips and tales. there were about a half dozen students there at the dinner with several faculty and mary anne, the dean's assistant. it was a good meal and a good dinner party. but sometimes right now, i wish that i could stay at home and curl up on the couch with the remote control and a tray of gooey brownies. and maybe something salty too -- i like the sweet and savory combo.
aside from the aforementioned sweet and savory, i need more silence and more privacy.
christina and i hatched a little plan to celebrate valentine's day from our office window. i am excited.

YUM! YUM!
And Winter has finally reached DC, it's been cold and windy...no snow, but cold enough to make me happy and wear a hat and mittens!
