things that i saw this weekend:
plastic bags in barbed wire
factories
eden place on south side of chicago
michigan farm
lindsay lohan was here
chicago's anti-graffiti patrol outside wishbone
a message from the universe
on my way to karen's i read a book that elsa commended: p.l.a.i.n. janes by cecil castellucci i really liked it. seriously. i cried and i laughed and i smiled and i thought.
v. good.
i also started a stack of other books, but i am reserving judgment.
i am always at ease and relaxed while with karen. should i type almost always? -- frankly i cannot remember the last time i didn't really feel like myself with her. she helped to clarify some ideas about my plans for new life in ohio and old life in d.c. and we cooked a couple of meals and went to see jennifer and todd's son ethan celebrate his second birthday. ethan is a cutie. sadly, jennifer is really a mom now...she has let her people mag subscription go and she didn't want to make the fun talk. she has not let herself go...she looks fab with short hair and great top and svelte. we still lounged around and watched hideous shows about greedy brides and petulant teens and laughed and thumbed through catalogs, but it wasn't quite the same.
i am aiming to be back in chicago later this summer with the hopes of spending more time with karen. if all things go as planned, shelley will come to town to celebrate her birthday.
i was really sort of sneaking into town this weekend...i didn't get to visit with donna or the suburban families, but next time...maybe? i will likely have my own car then.
it's rainy here in ann arbor, but the sun will shine tomorrow when kathy griffin returns to the D-list.
Labels: a big weekend, chicago, with karen
