take only what you need from it
after seeing american teen with mike and barb the other night, i cannot shake MGMT's earworm from "kids". it's not yet annoying to me but soon enough it may well be?
another good day yesterday in d.c. i went to yoga at flow with jessica. there's a whole raft of shiva rea students at flow these days and the classes are so much funkier for it. i smiled and sweat and sweat and sweat and slid all over my mat. it was so sibilant. so much so at one point, i had to flip the mat and start over on a fresh side. i now realize why people use those towels in class.
oh dear.
i feared that this would happen but i have lost some of my apprehension of sanksrit names for poses. at the rec at miami, we have decent yoga --- very meat and potatoes mostly called in english. yesterday, there were some things that jessica said that i wasn't super sure about. it's a bummer. i may have welled up again yesterday in class. and it's not about vocabulary; it's the release. it's not surprising...lots of people transfer when on the mat, but it takes me back each time.
i got to see debra after class -- it is always so welcome to see her.
but i am sore from all this work. i suspect that i will be much looser soon enough but right now i am really creaky.
late last night, i met sarah and casey at the diplomat to welcome sarah home from her year in bethel with the jesuit volunteer corps. we hung out for an hour or so and then i needed to take off because i was so tired. it's such a pleasure to enjoy the company of my cousins...to make jokes about politics, literature, our family, etc. those two concur that the youtube videos of reese (dancing like a disney tart) and riley (skating like young tony hawk) are both hilarious and vaguely disturbing. seriously, we all marvel, when did those kids get so big and tough?
more writing today. more yoga. to the pool.
i need to make a clearer plan about more visiting.
