april fool's day observed
i am a little apprehensive for seminar this afternoon because i had the students read about the debate between betye saar and kara walker. i have never taught anything about kara walker at any level and i am concerned about how this will go. please wish me luck. why did i think that this would be a good idea?
i had a personal note on saturday from a senior colleague whom i have admired for >than a decade. i am pretty sure that this is tacky that i am posting this here, but maybe if i put it in smaller typeface it mitigates the awkwardness? he typed...
"I very much appreciated your remarks yesterday; as well as your comments at RS’s review on Wednesday. I don’t know how you picked it up, but you really do a good job on both the critical and the constructive comments for the students. Maybe history is a good preparation for being an urban design critic!"
off to face the michigan sampler of weather. (i prefer fannie may). while i did my morning sun salutations, i faced the sunny east and 52 degrees, our high for the day. through the day we will have sun, showers, and snow. but maybe no hale. we had enough of that on friday evening.
