change of plans

i had intended to come to d.c. for an extended stay next week -- ten glorious days of d.c. but i underestimated the responsibilities/opportunities for finals week around here. i received this week three invitations/requests to serve as a guest critic for architecture and urban design studios. i begged off the first one. and went about my plan in my own little world. but as the second and third landed in my inbox, i realized that i made a mistake. and hemmed and hauled -- i mean hawed (thanks ebb for introducing me to the proper combo of verbs here). and i realized that i will have some more cash on hand. so, i bought another ticket to return for the work week out here and then back for carol + mark's wedding. and then right back here for graduation.

i figured all of this out last night. then helped skm with her dirt project. i actually sort of lit a fire under her and provided some direction. i played the part of coach bird. we made an appreciable dent before dark and the thunderstorms that are slated to arrive today.

then kdmd made a big, great spicy pasta and we three watched the gilmore girls i had just taped. (cayenne pepper hung in the air in our lil ranch house -- and though we coughed, it was good for the two of us who are struggling so with seasonal allergies). rory got on my nerves a lot less tonight. i am mad that lorelai poured the coffee on mrs. kim's wedding gown. it was nice to have the three of us sit down and share a meal. it was a lot less tense then it has been. three is not only the magic number, it is also a hard number, but it worked here last night.
