ann coulter
should rot in hell. and while roasting on the spit, i hope she gets bats trapped in her bottle blonde hair.
i am v. v. v. tired. but all is well. i made it out of hell. i made it through the teaching week--happily, it would be hard this term to confuse the two. tonight was an especially good class, i think. the four who are undergrads presented their work. they did well. two of them presented materials that were of such high quality, it would have been hard to spot them as the undergrads. and one, is finishing his first year. i think very highly of him. he may be the sharpest undergrad i have had in a long time. he asks the best questions and is so sensible. one of the other undergrads, also a man, really questioned the merits of capitalism and the promise of democracy. it been wild to see this happen...in our very presence this summer, he began to think harder about inequality. maybe because the session was compressed, and the class small, we could see it and witness it? and tonight, one of my international students volunteered a totally wonderful observation about gendered expectations of women and employment and housing as a built form embodying our ideals. and then several of my national (is that how i should type that?) followed on his comments. he was tickled that he advanced conversation, i could just tell. i am sad to report that we don't do right or well by our asian international students, i think. we take their money, and issue a degree after a few more transactions. i am pleased with how it worked in this course. i do think that the students worked hard to negotiate conversations and it's not been easy because i want to show about a million slides and hold forth on a monologue i like to think of the historyofhousingintheu.s.accordingtokellyquinn, and they give presentations and many have just rolled in from extremely long commutes and long work hours. this particular crew is diligent and engaged for all three hours we sit in a dark-ish room between 6 + 9 p.m.
i like stephen colbert. did i mention, i loathe ann coulter?
off to bmore tomorrow morning v v v early for a women's history conference.
i am really excited to go and hear work on women. it has been a while for me to think and listen directly on women's history. i have been thinking a lot about this conference because ebb gave a keynote talk tonight. i so wish that i could have been there to support her and to hear it in person. and now, i am itching to know how it went.
i spent some good time these past weeks working with a student on trying to develop an interpretative project on ella watson's house. she produced great and thrilling work. i am so looking forward to working on this further. later. after i tie up some other loose ends. like the diss.

I too was wishing Ann Coulter harm yesterday! I was wondering how I might be gainfully employed making her life miserable. I was slo hoping she, like Bill Bennett, would appear on the Daily Show or The Colbert Report. She, like so many celebrities, deserves a smackdown.
Hope to see you Sunday.
