so, i woke up 15 minutes before i was to be driven to the airport by the chairperson of the department. i scrambled and got to the airport, returned to ann arbor, went directly to class where they have slipped into the comas one expects in the balmy spring days of april when a young man's fancy turns to questions about what colored cummerbun to select for the senior prom. (they are so not reading and i am through with them except for about three of them). so, after office hours, i made my way to north campus for the early evening sit down with the dean and conference committee.

then despina, caroline, mireille, keith and i went out to celebrate despina's most excellent news -- her book contract. and eric joined us. i like having peers. it makes me wonder why and how many times i want to start all over again from scratch. we did laugh hard together tonight at a place i quite like on main street.
