my niece reese has this habit of bursting into song -- usually something impromptu and completely fabricated in her own brain. i frequent refrain is "i love my life." i never quite got the tune, but i concur. i am really going to like being here in ohio. i really like my colleagues (mostly). and as soon as i shake my fear of rows of corn, i will come around to living in a very small, rural place.
i have new tv shows because i have showtime for the next six months for $5. i am back into weeds, a show i first watched while staying at mindy and mary's last summer. and now into californication with david duchovny. i got the $5 premium channels because i ordered a landline. i will no longer live in a communications bubble come this friday afternoon. (my cell phone gets terrible terrible spotty reception.)
in other news, my grandfather is in the hospital...so even though mother teresa doubted the existence of god, it would be welcome for those three believers out there to pray on his behalf. my mother can find humor in basically anything and has been pretty amusing in her updates and reports, but still, he is almost as old as daniel schorr and he has pneumonia and low oxygen levels in his blood and on.
second week of school now...my initial fits of panic and extreme case of hives have subsided. (i can't figure out which came first -- the anxious hives? or heat rash hives? -- but they've been beastly and unsightly. i considered wrapping my wrists in cotton gauze to conceal the rash, but decided against it when i realized that i may look like owen wilson or a cutter).
