it's doctor, if you're nasty
i passed my oral defense.
it wasn't nearly as excruciating as i imagined. it was orderly and good.
i will provide more details either through the night tonight if i toss and turn as usual. or tomorrow.
there's a lot of activity in the house tonight and i really just need to roll over and play ph.d. for a while. i am exhausted, but mostly pleased.
as i returned to se MI, it's snowing tonight and i think of the flakes as little tiny well wishes from all nine of my imaginary friends who read these postings. maybe nature's confetti? (or leonardo di caprio's? i bought a vanity fair with him on the cover at the airport: their second green issue. the green issue seems awfully white to me, but i do look forward to prince charles' annual announcement about his carbon footprint. right.)
thanks especially to joan (and wee lord) and dr. liza who came along to the defense today, who didn't titter at all at least audibly. and to dr. liza who brought me a great big enormous chocolate bunny called "the professor". no joke...she has a pile of books and what looks suspiciously like a laser pointer in her paw.
and too thanks for all of the voice and electronic well wishes that you donna, and jason and julia and shelley and mike and miss bird sent. thanks always and forever to my mom and dad who squired me there and back, and who ate a celebratory dinner with me at samantha's.
off to sleep and then to work. only one more week of this semester. yahoo. i may just insist that every single student and colleague call me "doctor" tomorrow. just might do.

Doctor Q, congratulations!!!
Now, time for new terms:
1) Tenure. Once you have it, it means you only have to smile when you want to. Until then...
2) "The book." This involves annoying questions from the nitwits who infest one's life--do a mental search/replace on 'how's the diss. going?' types of questions, and you'll know how to deal with this.
More seriously, though--SO well deserved!!!!! Update your subscription labels and personal stationery ("From the Desk of Doctor KQ") forthwith!!!!!!! :-)
PS--only one week left?! I've got four! :-(
jesus, jason. ease up! let a girl have her relief before remindig her of her next stresses.
-- julia, whose book is late.
im so proud of you DOCTOR kelly.
Can i call you doctor quinn medicine woman?
this is the best. congratulations q.
YAY I say and not at all surprised but happy this day has come for you. Is it time for the Barcelona chair now?
Congrats KQ! I'm not a doctor... but hope to play you on TV some day.
