hot again
last night, i left campus very late -- around 10 pm. i stayed on after the day in the office to go to yoga, to a celebration of constitution day that my landlord lucille arranged, and to a public lecture by dee dee myers and scott mcclellan. mostly they offered bromides, but i was actually impressed by something that scott mcclellan said. a student asked a pretty decent question about how some fix on discussions of a candidate's race or gender and don't get into other substantive issues. myers said a bunch of expected stuff about clinton and clinton. but mcclellan responded with a story about his mother's run-off for mayor of austin when he was 10. i quite liked that.
on the way home, across the newly shorn corn, i spotted the most brilliant orange moon ever. have i ever in life since a crescent moon the color of safety pylon. i can't recall, but man - oh - man did it impress.
i messed up a lot in my "large" lecture course today because my powerpoint wasn't "there" when i went to pull it up. so i had to lecture on buildings that were not on a screen. after, we turned our attention to the group work they are tending to. as i circulated, one of the students was chuckling and said ms. quinn, you were on fire. i sure was ashley.
i think my armpits spontaneously combusted i was sweating so much. i just hope brandon davis doesn't tell tmz that i have firepits.
i have been quite unfaithful to blogspot since i have embraced facebook and started this new teaching job. i will do better.
