another day, another good idea

i worked in the yard today deadheading flowers and clearing the way for perennials to poke up. i also spread some coffee grounds about and picked up debris and sticks. i am ready for new growth.

[a.j., one of the undergrads in my large lecture course, will ask sometimes: do you mean literally or metaphorically?] i mean here, that i am ready for new growth both literally and metaphorically.

the architectural fellows have their show opening this week and despina's contribution is going to be so excellent. it's architect barbie and it looks smart and good. i am so excited for her that i can barely stand it. i think that kathy's is going to be pretty awesome too. she made a latex cast of her office. the concrete masonry units look especially beautiful. i cannot wait to see it illuminated. she is really smart to make her assault on the banal with this. it is like a huge soft claes oldenburg piece. eddie, you would love it. i mean, i think that you would love it. i would like to see it with you so that i could hear what you would say about it. i know i would giggle at whatever wry remark you offered.

this evening, i went along to the RC to see bread and puppet theater perform "everything is fine." i met kimiko there and then later alex and sophia arrived. they knew some in the troupe and they had a nice chat in two languages after the one acts plays. i took my sketchbook and made a number of notes and came up with several ideas and at least one good one for my storytelling class for next term at miami university of ohio.

their work is clever. i love visual puns and puppets and the accordion so i was in heaven. i got really really wound up after the show as i talked with some grad students in the foyer. it was a good day and a night.

i think that i want to get a dog. i know that i should wait until i get to oxford, but i would really like to get a poodle now. despina and i debated whether we could take on pets, foster children, or other children on our own as single women over a pair of decaf cafe au laits at the sidewalk cafe this afternoon. it was sunny and warm, a little windy, but sunny and pleasant out today.
