should have seen this coming
tonight i was cc'd on a mess of emails by a senior woman in the college to come to a meeting to follow up on a major grant that they (some tenured and tenure track women) have submitted for a "diversity speaker series" to be held in the college next year.
the laughable/predictable? thing is that they have done despina and me just like doug and his conference committee did in the fall: process in isolation, news after the fact, + the credit for a major initiative. after it was despina and i who stuck our necks and (round) asses out in the fall.
same story different characters?
i tried to reassure despina just now that we should attribute incompetence before malice, but then i opened the proposal and read it. i could practically taste the bile. i get to leave, but she may stay next year. this isn't right.
i don't need the credit for the work i do here. afterall, i have a blog. and julia, googs, and my mommy + daddy will be proud of me no matter what. and when i call my nephew he will always -- no matter what -- exclaim, "hi lala!" and launch into a comparison of the weather in our respective neighborhoods.
but it's not right, this. despina is a leader in the field (on two continents) and she was cut out of this.
Labels: bile, old dogs no new tricks, same old same old, screwed again
