bedlam?

in my ongoing effort to b-muse and perhaps even a-muse, the michigan student body, alex and sophia of superior concept monsters arrived in town this week. they came to two sections of the intro to urban planning and environmental planning course today to talk very briefly (but eloquently) about the power of puppets + procession for community organizing and celebration. it was really cool. they spoke for 20 minutes or so and showed images of their work in manhattan's village halloween parade, in trinidad with carnivale and on. then there was total silence. i broke into hives. no, literally, i broke into hives because i am so fraught with worry these days, and i really wanted this to work.

and then, there was a flurry of activity, and students got really into it.

it was exactly as i hoped. students got excited making things.
they asked at the end of section, if we could work on it next week too.

this was after a morning's lecture by amanda from growing hope. she and the people in her organization work on food security and community gardening here in washtenaw county. as a class, we are trundling out to their site in ypsilanti to d-mount a garden on saturday morning.

as bird might say, i done gone lost my mind this semester with all this activity. no wonder i am tired. and googs, i am officially too tired to kick. ass.
