i miss my peoples

i am so fortunate to have so many amazing and creative people in my world, but why do i live so far away from all y all?

i miss you. and you. and you. and even you two too.


i have just had a raft of email from pals and former students who are pals. and dang. what am i doing here?

i know what i am doing here...it's my career. but in the middle of the cornfields of ohio?


a couple of funny things.
today in both classes, when i asked for announcements, two different women in the different classes made announcements about pets.

• one endorsed foster care from the local shelter -- she fostered a cute dog and wants other to too. (there are sensible and strict limits on how long college students can foster).
• another, in the other class, announced that her goldfish had sex and they have 1,000 small fish that they need to give away.

what the hell?


in the class on storytelling, we are reading from act up to wto. they need to identify an issue and propose a smartmeme-inspired strategy to work for social justice. one of the rockstar students in the class queried with a furrowed brow: are we supposed to lead a social movement. i responded: yes. the revolution begins in here at 12:30 on thursday come prepared. they laughed and laughed. (btw: she's not actually the rockstar, she's a smart woman who is an amazing writer. the official rockstar wasn't in class today, perhaps he was too busy lobbying for votes on famecast.com).

off to meet with some labor organizer. i hope he is buying the drinks.
