AP projects: Quinn will take Spring Break

like joan, i am aiming to post more.

i had minor outpatient surgery today to take care of two extra bits that formed. these were subcutaneous bits. still waiting on the potential problems with the internal bits, but i have taken great comfort in learning how many girlfriends have titled uteri. (jss and googs not included). at the risk of sounding a little munchausen, i am charming my way through nearly every waiting room in the county.

with the tv on, i fell asleep on the couch this evening post-op. my dreams mingled lou dobbs barking about aliens (from the tube), dogs barking and whining (from downstairs), and my little five year old friend, rita, assuaging my concerns (from a vision). she is helen and kevin's daughter and i really like her. and them.

i powered through some work today. i am attempting to work on my own research routinely while interspersing some teaching. i am seriously adhering to the advice of my senior teaching mentor: i have adopted the subprime approach. i am attempting to subprime every other class. no credit check, no references, just irrational exuberance. i am not sure if the metaphor or the practice really works, but it is keeping me afloat. i can sleep at night. and they seem to be learning.

the pop-up class was pretty amazing. the learning curve was a little steep for me at first, but i caught on. mid-day, i realized that there are a lot of applications for this enterprise. and not just the scientific modeling that the teacher does for his gainful employment.

i miss that aspect of being in ann arbor. there are so many creative people about cooking up really interesting, stimulating, beautiful things. there is less of that here.

but i have much to look forward to...the fallow fields will come alive with monsanto and cargill seed soon enough.
