twice today i found myself in conversations about c.c.c.

michelle and i met for a cup of tea this afternoon to celebrate my offer and to think through some ideas she has for public history projects. one involves old civilian conservation corps camps in SE MI and a documentation project.

the other was a panel i just served on for one of my students. it is her sorority's founders' week so she asked me and other women to come along to talk tonight. i should have wondered more what i was in for when i stepped out of the room to get a cup of water just before the event began. in the hall of the union, a pal spotted me and said what are you doing in the union at night? (more on that in a second). i explained that i came along for rachael's panel. she remarked, oh the christian girls. mmm. gulp? huh?

so i returned to the room and realized that i was on a panel with a campus crusader for christ. we were supposed to talk about our faith and life and love. huh? how did i get in there for that?

the union is a totally different scene at night. it is buzzing with students and open lap tops and work and i-pod and the magic wok and student chapter of toastmasters and all manner of things.
