coocoo for cocoa puffs

i met a student i totally love for lunch yesterday at za's. za's is a place where new orientation students and their parents are led during their tours of east quad and central campus when they first arrive at the harvard of the midwest. each visitor is welcomed to the establishment with a fresh, chilled, chocolate-covered strawberry.* a real, delish, complimentary chocolate-covered strawberry is available at the register for each patron and especially each new student + her or his companion family members. because that is how the locally-owned merchants of ann arbor roll. *i imagine that there are vegan and lactose-intolerant offerings, this is A2.

anyway, as i climbed back into the suv-ette, i thought for sure that i detected the aromatic chocomulch of my own home. sure enough the city of ann arbor is now using the aforementioned mulch in its planters and raised beds around town. i spotted it with my own senses.

jasmine has been a little bit frisky when she comes inside with me and i consulted my mother's doc, dr. google. the diagnosis?: she's coocoo for cocoa puffs.

maybe this explains, why, when i settled into bed last night to read my brand new vanity fair and their take on "the duke lacrosse scandal", i found a smallish damp puddle of jasmine? i mean "!" like many good parents, and surely like the ever-loving, ever-patient karen mirante, i calmly cleaned it all up and settled back in. but dear me. not only does this confirm that she was on my bed...i suspected as much...but she also christened it.

i am so sure that i shouldn't compare, but i bet madeline doesn't do such things.

this is what i get for sleeping around so much and my horizontal life. thanks sinead y nico and barb et mike for dealing with all my many secretions in your beds, futons, and pull-outs.

off later today to d.c. sleep in mmc + mfb's for two weeks.
